"NO PAIN, NO GAIN"
This feature film, written, produced and directed by Helene T. Davis' son
Samuel Turcotte, is a dramatic-comedy set in the world of bodybuilding.
Beneath its simple premise is cutting edge medical research about a human
protein called Myostatin and its relation to muscle growth. A recent article
in the New England Journal of Medicine entitled "Myostatin Mutation Associated
with Gross Muscle Hypertrophy in a Child" chronicles a genetic mutation in a
German baby that caused his Myostatin to be inhibited and has resulted in
radical muscle growth. This is the first documented case in a human and
was widely reported in the medical and popular press.
