With the ever-increasing popularity of recreational diving, there are greater demands on the medical community to provide medical clearance to divers and to understand the needs of the injured diver.
Medical Seminars, Inc. developed Medicine of Diving to educate physicians who serve as medical consultants to divers in their local communities. This course is designed to empower physicians to make informed recommendations on fitness to dive and to recognize and manage diving injuries. A faculty of diverse medical specialties, all experienced in undersea medicine, will share their knowledge of diving medicine.
Upon completion of the Medicine of Diving activity, participants should be able to:
· Make a medical assessment of fitness to dive;
· Discuss medical concerns for diving in special environments;
· Recognize & treat unique diving accidents in emergency situations;
· Manage diving injuries at remote locations; and
Gain knowledge to serve as a medical consultant to local dive groups.
